The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, David Schapiro and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Watson lands a nice shot that snaps Mir's head back.
Watson throws a right hand that Mir ducks under and follows up with a left that Mir also avoids with ease.
Mir is looking to clinch but Watson is avoiding it.
Mir misses with a two punch combination.
Watson throws a left and a right that both miss
and Mir counters with a one-two to the body.
Mir has a takedown stuffed.
Watson throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Watson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Watson throws a jab but it's blocked by Mir.
No luck for Mir with that takedown attempt.
Watson stuffs the takedown attempt from Mir. Mir gets slowly back to his feet.

Mir throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Watson's waist but Watson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mir off to one side.

Watson steps into range and cracks Mir with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Mir flops backwards and Watson dives into his guard looking to finish!

Watson wants to get up but he can't break Mir's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Mir is still in real trouble! Can Watson finish him?

Mir seems to have recovered his senses.

Watson wants to stand but Mir has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Watson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Mir, up you get!
CJ Watson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Watson swats away the attempt to clinch by Mir.
Mir takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Mir looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Watson is fending him off so far but Mir persists. Nope, Watson circles away and we're back to standing.

Frank Mir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Mir has closed the distance and engaged Watson in a clinch.
Mir has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Watson avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Watson wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Watson is looking to break free of the clinch but Mir has double underhooks.

Mir shoots in but Watson avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Mir decides to stand up, so the ref orders Watson to his feet.
Mir shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Watson pinned against the cage. Watson gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Watson misses the shot to the body.

Mir moves into range and clinches up with Watson.
Watson wants to get back to striking at distance but Mir won't allow it.

Mir breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nice body punch from Watson.
Mir is looking to clinch but Watson is avoiding it.
Mir shoots for a double leg takedown but Watson sprawls well. He's pushed Mir's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Mir tries to close the distance and clinch but Watson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Watson changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Watson throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Mir on the side of the head.

Mir shoots in but Watson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Mir closes this distance looking for a takedown but Watson circles away.

Watson throws a shot to the body.
Mir tries to move into range but Watson moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Mir shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Watson but Watson pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Watson is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Horrible takedown by Mir or perhaps it was just good defense by Watson which made him look bad.

Mir feints and as Watson raises his hands in defense, Mir changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mir prevents Watson from getting back to his feet.
Mir pushing down on Watson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Watson pushes Mir off looking to stand but Mir dives back in and keeps control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

CJ Watson dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Mir clinches up with Watson and pushes him back against the cage.
Watson gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mir.
Mir misses with a knee to the head.
Mir prevents Watson from breaking the clinch.
Mir tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Mir changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Watson fights it off and pushes away nicely.
CJ Watson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Frank Mir.
Watson is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Mir hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!
