Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Julle Bulle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shafiq Hussain (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shafiq Hussain has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Julle Bulle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shafiq Hussain!
The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Sosuke Kotani and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hussain bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hussain wants to stand but Bulle has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.

Hussain must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Hussain throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Bulle works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Bulle parries the strikes from Hussain easily there. Hussain is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Bulle to escape.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Bulle is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Bulle throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Hussain was covering up waiting for the punch and Bulle finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Bulle will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Bulle drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Bulle jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Hussain is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Bulle is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Bulle has escaped and now he's on top!

Bulle thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Hussain doesn't succeed with the takedown

Bulle really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Julle Bulle wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Hussain feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Hussain stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bulle swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Bulle is working an open guard so Hussain takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Hussain displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bulle.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Julle Bulle.
I think Bulle has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
