The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Montana shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Serra defends it nicely.
Montana throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
No luck for Montana with that takedown attempt.
Montana looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Serra is fending him off so far but Montana persists. Nope, Serra circles away and we're back to standing.
Jose Serra has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ignacio Montana.

Serra shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Montana is trying to defend but Serra finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Montana is looking to control Serra's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Montana avoid being mounted?

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Serra looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Montana!
Serra will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Serra prevents Montana from getting the reversal.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Serra seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Montana for as long as he can get away with.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Serra avoids the attempt from Montana to control.

Montana misses with a takedown attempt

and Serra counters with a nice double leg into guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Montana can do anything to dispel that myth.
Montana is trying to keep Serra in close.

Montana looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Serra puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Serra passes the guard and advances to mount!
Montana is breathing heavily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jose Serra.

and Serra counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Serra.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Montana with a lazy takedown attempt

and Serra counters with a takedown into side control.
Montana is letting Serra control him for a moment.
Montana takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Serra passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Montana!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Jose Serra has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
The fight stays on the outside here - Montana looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Montana moves to clinch but Serra breaks away

and Serra counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Montana's guard now.
Serra slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

A control attempt from Montana but he's now mounted!

Jose Serra showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Serra has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
