Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gustavo Ramirez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Smedley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dean Smedley struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 187.8lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Glass and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smedley falls off balance throwing a combination
and Ramirez counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Ramirez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Smedley circles away from the clinch attempt.
Ramirez tries to close the distance and clinch but Smedley swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ramirez comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Ramirez throws a series of punches but Smedley moves out of range.
Ramirez tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Smedley manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Ramirez closes this distance looking for a takedown but Smedley circles away.
Ramirez misses with a takedown attempt
and Smedley counters with a one-two to the body.

Smedley leaves Ramirez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gustavo Ramirez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Ramirez counters with a one-two to the body.
Ramirez throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ramirez is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Smedley will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.

Ramirez's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Ramirez wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Smedley, who protects the arm well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Ramirez tries to move to mount but Smedley blocks the move with his legs.
Ramirez swings around for an armbar but Smedley sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Ramirez's guard.
Smedley is sitting in close to Ramirez's body. Ramirez has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Smedley is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Smedley is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Ramirez.
