Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Softy McSofterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anderson Souza (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Anderson Souza is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Softy McSofterson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Anderson Souza!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Daniel Cesar and Leandro Rodrigues.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McSofterson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
McSofterson on the wrong end of a nice hook.
McSofterson lands a nice shot that snaps Souza's head back.
A low kick from Souza misses

and McSofterson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Souza's guard now.
Souza trying to strike off his back.
McSofterson tries to stand but Souza is controlling from the bottom.

McSofterson stands up from Souza's guard - McSofterson perhaps looking for a knockout.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A bone on bone clash there as McSofterson blocks the leg kick.

McSofterson looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Souza has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Souza is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
McSofterson trying to control the position from guard on top but Souza is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
McSofterson is looking to stand up but Souza won't let him.
Souza bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in McSofterson's guard.
Souza wants to get up but he can't break McSofterson's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Souza seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Souza trying to control but McSofterson is working from the bottom.
Souza is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Anderson Souza hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
McSofterson throws a combination that misses
and Souza counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps McSofterson thinking.
A slow jab from Souza misses its intended target.

McSofterson steps into range and cracks Souza with a monster punch that buckles his knees! Souza flops backwards and McSofterson dives into his guard looking to finish!
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Souza holds on and takes a little breather.
McSofterson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Souza has control of McSofterson's left arm, preventing McSofterson from doing any damage.
Souza is looking to stand back up but McSofterson counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Souza.
Souza is looking to escape.
McSofterson content to control rather than advance.
McSofterson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

McSofterson stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
McSofterson tries to clinch but Souza moves out of range.
Anderson Souza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Souza scores with a one two! McSofterson had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Good standup being displayed there by Souza as he connects with a hook.
McSofterson throws a shot from downtown. Souza moves away and avoids it.
Anderson Souza is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
McSofterson feints and then cracks Souza's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Souza down.
Souza lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but McSofterson circles away quickly and effectively.
Souza misses with a hook to the body

and McSofterson counters with a double leg. Souza bangs his head on the mat and seems to be on queer street here... McSofterson follows up with punches and the ref steps in to end the fight! It was the slam that caused all the problems.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Slam). Softy McSofterson!
