Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Lionel Gabriel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Shields (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shields has chosen Take your shirt off as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The key to victory for Lionel Gabriel has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Atkins and Richard Clark.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fighters circle momentarily. Gabriel darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Shields gets a clinch.
Shields is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Gabriel gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Shields keeps control of Gabriel as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Shields changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Gabriel fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Gabriel misses with a few strikes there.
Shields tries to clinch up but Gabriel circles away and keeps his distance.

Shields shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Shields lands strikes from half guard.

Shields is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Shields moves nicely into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Shields in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.

Shields working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Shields has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Gabriel tries to escape but Shields is in control.

Shields is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Gabriel knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
The ground and pound from Shields seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Shields wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gabriel, who protects the arm well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Shields is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Gabriel looks calm but he's in trouble here. Shields gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Gabriel is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Shields lets go of the hold and Gabriel can pop his arm back in it's socket.
