Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Juan Manuel Marquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jens Mcarthy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, Daniel Bishop and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marquez tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Mcarthy counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Marquez avoids a punch combination nicely.
Marquez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
A decent looking cross lands there for Marquez.
It looks like Jens Mcarthy has been cut.
Marquez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Marquez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mcarthy moves away.
Marquez misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Marquez swings for the body but Mcarthy moves out of range.

and Mcarthy counters with a straight right hand.
Mcarthy throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Marquez just misses with a punch to the body.
Mcarthy lands with a shot to the body.
Marquez ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Mcarthy moves away.
Marquez misses the shot to the body.
Marquez bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Marquez fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mcarthy manages to avoid it.
Marquez slips a jab and a cross from Mcarthy.
Marquez pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Mcarthy lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Marquez sprawling to the canvas. Mcarthy follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Marquez hang on?
Marquez is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Oh Marquez is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Marquez seems to have got his legs back now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marquez trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
Marquez is breathing heavily.
Mcarthy wants to stand up but Marquez is controlling the position.
Mcarthy stops Marquez from getting back to his feet.
Mcarthy wants to stand up but Marquez has a hold of him and won't allow it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Marquez wants to get back to his feet.
Marquez has one foot on Mcarthy's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Marquez is looking to clinch.
Marquez tries to close the distance and clinch up but Mcarthy swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Marquez scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Mcarthy doesn't seem bothered though.

Marquez misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Mcarthy counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Decent striking displayed by Mcarthy there.
Mcarthy tests Marquez's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Mcarthy waves his right hand out in front of him, looking to distract Marquez. Oh, he's unloaded a beast of a left hand - it worked! He's dropped Marquez to the canvas! Can he finish him!?
Marquez wriggles free and stands up.

Marquez blocks a jab.
Mcarthy misses with a double jab.
Mcarthy thows a left - swing and a miss!
Juan Manuel Marquez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mcarthy dodges the punch combination from Marquez.
Marquez fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Mcarthy manages to avoid it.
Mcarthy jabs Marquez to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Marquez scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Marquez misses with a takedown attempt - Mcarthy sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Mcarthy changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Marquez drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Marquez is looking to wear down Mcarthy with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Mcarthy throws a body punch but Marquez moves out of range.
Marquez misses with a combination
and Mcarthy counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Mcarthy uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Mcarthy jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Nice uppercut there from Mcarthy.

Mcarthy fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Marquez looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Mcarthy moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Marquez is sent reeling backwards by a solid uppercut. He barely regains his balance and Mcarthy moves in for the kill throwing a continuous barrage of punches that force the ref to step in.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:13 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jens Mcarthy!
