The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wheeler shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

mcStrong wants to get back to his feet but Wheeler drags him back down.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wheeler is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Mike Wheeler overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Wheeler has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Wheeler here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
Wheeler is working to tighten is grip on mcStrong's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. mcStrong has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Wheeler is really squeezing tight and eventually mcStrong passes out! Wheeler breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
