Richard comes into the arena with In Ashes They Shall Reap blaring out of the sound system. Stan Richard has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Richard uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pacquiao.
Stan Richard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Pacquiao swings widly with a right hand
and Richard counters with a nice uppercut.
Pacquiao wants to clinch
and Richard counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Richard throws a lazy head kick
letting Pacquiao counter with a right hand.
Pacquiao tries to clinch but Richard moves out of range.
Richard misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Pacquiao counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Pacquiao looks to land a left hand but Richard moved out of range nicely.
Pacquiao walks into a straight right hand from Richard.
Pacquiao fails in his attempt to clinch.
Richard takes a swing at Pacquiao's ribcage but misses.
Pacquiao scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
A chopping leg kick lands by Richard.
Pacquiao feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Richards jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pacquiao throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

and Richard counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Pacquiao is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Richard swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Richard fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Pacquiao is looking to clinch.

Richard decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Pacquiao is trying to get back to full guard.
Pacquiao looks like he's trying to stand up.
Richard is controlling the pace.
Pacquiao wants to control the action here but instead Richard manages to pass to full mount!

Pacquiao bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Pacquiao stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Richard swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Richard is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Pacquiao is controlling him.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Pacquiao stands and steps away. Richard gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Pacquiao scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Richard looks to land a combination. Pacquiao sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Richard avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
