Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Major Holt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and jose aldo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Holt comes to the cage accompanied by Country Boys Can Survive by Hank Williams Jr. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, George Francis and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
aldo shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. aldo showed some decent athleticism there.
Holt is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Holt is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute aldo jumps into side control!
Holt tries to bench press aldo off him but aldo keeps the position.
aldo has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
aldo shoots in and gets a takedown into Holt's guard.
Holt has his foot on aldo's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. aldo works his way back into a safe position though.
Holt throws his legs up looking for a submission but aldo uses it to pass to side control.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Holt wants to improve his position but instead aldo has moved into half guard.
Holt tries to get to full guard but aldo has control of the leg.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Holt is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of aldo's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take aldo's back!
Holt is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but aldo has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Holt is looking for a choke. aldo gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. aldo manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.
Holt is breathing heavily.

Holt looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
aldo trying to control but Holt is working from the bottom.
aldo throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Major Holt dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Holt has aldo up against the cage in a clinch.
aldo fails to pull guard.
Holt is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Holt tries to pull guard but aldo holds him up against the cage and eventually Holt drops back down to his feet.

aldo has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Holt clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Holt manages to reverse the position and now he's in aldo's guard. Nice work there by Holt.
Holt drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Holt jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
aldo can't keep his opponent in guard - Holt advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Major Holt overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Holt passes to full mount!

Holt lands a nice shot to the head.
Holt trying to control but aldo is having none of it.
aldo working to try and regain half guard.
aldo tries to lock up and control but Holt gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Holt swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and aldo is now in Holt's guard. A big mistake from Holt there, giving up the dominant position!
Holt is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Holt is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! aldo has his hands clasped together but Holt extends an breaks aldo's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Holt.
