The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Chris Mickles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Portage tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Mickles manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Mickles lands the left hand.
Portage tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Mickles paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mickles lands a really nice looking cross but Portage seems unphased.
The fight stays on the outside here - Portage looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Mickles throws a lazy right hand but Portage sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Portage tries to pull guard but Mickles holds him up against the cage and eventually Portage drops back down to his feet.

Portage gets tackled into the cage by Mickles. Mickles maintains the clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Mickles - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Mickles gets through Portage's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Mickles digs a right hand underneath Portage's ribcage. Portage let out a lung full of air as it connected.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Portage. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Portage takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Portage's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
It looks like Justin Portage has been cut.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Mickles creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Portage is rocked!
Mickles dips a shoulder and cracks Portage with a mighty uppercut! Portage falls back against the cage and Mickles unloads with a barrage of strikes! Portage is completely out with his eyes open, only supported by the cage! Save him ref! Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Mickles screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!
