The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A head kick misses from Volkov.
Volkov goes for a high kick. It partially lands.

It looks like Neil Fisher has been cut.
Fisher could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Volkov fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Fisher swats away the attempt to clinch by Volkov.
Fisher throws a body punch but Volkov moves out of range.
Volkov changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Fisher scores a takedown into full mount!
Volkov is in all sorts of trouble here.
Fisher tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fisher's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Volkov tries to control the position but Fisher now has his back.
Volkov is trying to break free.
Volkov is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

We're going to have a standup here because Neil Fisher wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Volkov shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Volkov trying to control the position from guard on top but Fisher is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Volkov content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Fisher has locked up a guillotine! Fisher's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Volkov is holding on here and Fisher must be using up a lot of energy. Volkov has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Fisher gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
