PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rod Brave (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Houdini (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Brave might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Eco, Eco (somos de taleco). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rod Brave!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Alex Houdini!
The judges for this bout are Thiago Cunha, Paulo Santos and Emerson Jorge.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brave misses with a leg kick.
Brave throws a sloppy head kick and Houdini moves out of range easily.

Houdini shoots in and gets a takedown into Brave's guard.
Houdini controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Brave keeping moving, preventing Houdini from controlling successfully.
Houdini might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Brave kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Brave wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Houdini is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Houdini with a flurry of punches that miss.
Houdini throwing strikes but missing.
Houdini trying to control the position from guard on top but Brave is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Houdini in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Houdini wants to pass the guard but Brave is keeping the position.

Houdini drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Brave manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Houdini has Brave in his guard.
Brave has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Houdini is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Brave stands and steps away. Houdini gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Houdini moves out of range of the body kick.
Houdini shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Brave but Brave pushes him off and we're back to square one.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Brave enables Houdini to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Brave manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Houdini is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Brave knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Houdini on the ground.

Houdini thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Houdini drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Houdini jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Brave looking for a sweep. Not yet Brave, not yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Houdini sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Brave's guard.

Houdini is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Brave is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
