PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Markus Aurelio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Daniel Draven (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aurelio comes to the cage accompanied by It's a Fight. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Markus Aurelio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Daniel Draven!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Alan Glass and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Aurelio steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Draven.
Some wild striking there from Aurelio.

Draven bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Aurelio is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Draven really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Aurelio. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Aurelio is trying to control Draven's posture but Draven avoids it.
Draven lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Aurelio down.
Draven wants to stand but Aurelio has his arm trapped.
Draven trying to control the action but Aurelio is working from the bottom.
Aurelio manages to work his way to half guard, despite Draven's best efforts.
Draven is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Draven thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Aurelio's head.
Draven tries to stand and escape but Aurelio is controlling the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Draven works his way into full mount!

That's one minute gone in the round.
Aurelio working to try and regain half guard.
Draven tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Draven lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.


Aurelio is rocked!
Draven sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Oh Aurelio is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Aurelio is wriggling around trying to escape.
Aurelio seems to have got his legs back now.
Aurelio tries to hold on but Draven postures up.
Draven prevents Aurelio from getting the reversal.
Aurelio slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Draven lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Draven wants to lay and pray for a moment but Aurelio keeps working.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Aurelio is looking to control Draven's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Aurelio avoid being mounted?
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Draven lands a nice short elbow.
Aurelio is refusing to be controlled, as Draven sits in half guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Draven wants to get back to his feet.
Draven is thwarting Aurelio's attempts to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Draven fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Draven looks gassed!

Draven gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A short left from Draven.
The referee calls for Draven to work.

Draven breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Aurelio throws a left and a right that both miss
and Draven connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Draven fails in his attempt to clinch.
Draven rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Aurelio moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Aurelio throws a big shot that misses.
Aurelio closes the distance and clinches up with Draven, looking for a takedown. Aurelio pushes Draven against the cage but Draven circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Aurelio working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Draven doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Draven manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Draven must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Aurelio is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Aurelio is really struggling to control Draven but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Aurelio trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Aurelio lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Draven!
Aurelio breaks from Draven's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Aurelio scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Draven?

Aurelio is landing with some decent strikes but Draven is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Draven can't escape the position.
Aurelio controlling from the full mount.
Aurelio looking to control but Draven is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Aurelio in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Aurelio working for a submission but Draven is keeping him at bay.
Aurelio lands a heavy elbow.
Aurelio is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Draven can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Aurelio prevents Draven from getting the reversal.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Draven in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Aurelio is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Aurelio is landing with some decent strikes but Draven is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Markus Aurelio will probably get the nod.
That's time! Aurelio's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Aurelio throws a head kick but Draven moves out of range.
Aurelio scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Aurelio falls off balance throwing a combination
and Draven counters with a huge uppercut, hook combination that drops Aurelio! The ref has seen enough - he's dived in to stop the fight! Brutal strikes by Draven!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:11 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Daniel Draven!
