The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, John Mangel and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and McGee counters with a lovely straight right hand!


It looks like Janek Banek has been cut.

McGee closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Banek did well to prevent McGee getting side control.

McGee moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Banek gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows McGee to score an easy takedown into full guard.
McGee stays in close to Banek's body and controls the position.
Banek really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McGee. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

McGee decides to stand and escape the position.

McGee closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Banek to the mat! Banek manages to get full guard.
Banek looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but McGee puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

McGee postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Banek to stand up.

and McGee counters with a slapping leg kick.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

and McGee counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Banek's guard now.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Banek can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as McGee controls the pace.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as McGee accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Banek trying his best to control but McGee has mounted him.
McGee tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Banek reaches up to try and control the position but McGee seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! Banek rolls and tries to escape and now McGee has his back!

McGee is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Banek has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.

Skippy McGee overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
McGee has good solid back control here.

McGee has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Banek has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Well McGee has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
