These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emelianenko takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Emelianenko gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Metro counters with a head kick that drops Emelianenko to the mat! Emelianenko scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Metro is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Metro tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Emelianenko counters with a takedown into side control.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Emelianenko working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Emelianenko is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Metro has escaped the position, nice work there.

Emelianenko is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Metro knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Emelianenko tries to move to mount but Metro blocks the move with his legs.

Emelianenko moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Emelianenko wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Metro, who protects the arm well.

Emelianenko is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Metro is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Emelianenko has hold of Metro's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Metro tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Emelianenko cranks the arm and Metro screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Metro, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
