Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kaarlo Vihtala (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mario Belfour (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vihtala comes to the cage accompanied by Pohjois-Karjala. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vihtala avoids the head kick by Belfour.
Belfour looks to land a left hand but Vihtala moved out of range nicely.
Belfour throws a left and a right that both miss
enabling Vihtala to counter with a crisp jab.

It looks like Mario Belfour has been cut.

Belfour throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Vihtala blocks it with crossed arms.

Vihtala wants the takedown. Belfour is fighting it off but Vihtala persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Belfour's guard against the cage.

You can see the frustration on Belfour's face as Vihtala controls the position.
Vihtala's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Belfour tries to buck Vihtala off but Vihtala is having none of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Vihtala cracks Belfour with a big right hand but Belfour just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Vihtala remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Vihtala has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Vihtala postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Mario Belfour's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
