PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Peter Stringer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Johnny Spade (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stringer's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Cherokee - Europe. Spade is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Ace Of Spades. The key to victory for Peter Stringer has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johnny Spade!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Spade wants to clinch up but Stringer keeps it at a distance.
Stringer motions for Spade to come forward. Stringer throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Spade is looking to land body kicks.

Spade wriggles free and stands up.
Spade tries to clinch there but Stringer circles away.
Johnny Spade seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Stringer closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Spade had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Stringer is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Spade Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Stringer's back instead.
I really don't envy Stringer right now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Spade stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Stringer swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Johnny Spade showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Spade is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Stringer is just riding it out for now. Spade eventually gives up the hold.
Stringer is staying active underneath Spade, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Spade is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Stringer can't fight it off and eventually Spade manages to take the fight to the floor. Stringer looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Stringer pushes a forearm under Spade's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Spade is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
