Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vance Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kagoshima Kage!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Albert Achterberg and Daniel Blasius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Kage swings for the body but Johnson moves out of range.
Johnson avoids a punch combination nicely.
Johnson walks into a left hand.


It looks like Vance Johnson has been cut.
Kage keeps the fight on the outside.
Kagoshima Kage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kage throws a hook but Johnson avoids it easily.
Kage lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Johnson circles away quickly and effectively.

Johnson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Kage walks away with a smile on his face. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Kage throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Johnson blocks it with crossed arms.
Johnson fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Johnson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Kage fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Kage lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Johnson circles away quickly and effectively.

Johnson misses with a takedown attempt - Kage sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

What can Johnson do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Johnson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kage defends well.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Kage controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Kagoshima Kage hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Johnson jumps guard but Kage stands there with Johnson around his waist. Johnson gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Kage is leaning against Johnson and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Johnson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kage just stands there and leans against the cage.

Kagoshima Kage seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Kagoshima Kage showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Johnson tries to clinch
and Kage counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kage. Johnson does a little dance to reset his feet.
Kage throws a right hand that Johnson ducks under and follows up with a left that Johnson also avoids with ease.

Johnson moves into full mount!

Johnson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Kage to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Kage shrugs it off.

Johnson is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Kage is surviving well by controlling Johnson's body position as best he can.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Kage really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

Johnson jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Kage manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Kage isn't going anywhere.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Kage!
Johnson throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
Kage is squirming around, avoiding Johnson's attempts to control the action.
Johnson fails to move to back control.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Kage tries to hold on but Johnson postures up.
Johnson misses with a head shot.
Kage really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Johnson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kage can't escape the position.
Kage is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Johnson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kage can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Kage is working to get back to half guard.

Johnson is trying to take his opponent's back.

Johnson jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Kage is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Kage and Johnson has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Johnson wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kage, who protects the arm well.
Kagoshima Kage is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
