The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eidyeight dives in and grabs Mcdonald's left leg, looking for a takedown. Mcdonald pushes down on Eidyeight's head and hops out.
Eidyeight showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Mcdonald.
Mcdonald misses with a wild combination.
Mcdonald misses with a low kick.
Mcdonald throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Mcdonald stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Eidyeight.
Eidyeight will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Mcdonald throws a left and a right that both miss

and Eidyeight counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Mcdonald gets underhooks to prevent Eidyeight's takedown attempt.
Mcdonald is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Eidyeight pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mcdonald gets cracked there but stands up to it.
A solid leg kick lands there for Eidyeight.
A slow jab from Mcdonald misses its intended target.

Eidyeight scores with a jab to the body.
No joy there for Eidyeight, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Eidyeight moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Mcdonald jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Eidyeight misses with a two punch combination.
Eidyeight uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Mcdonald.
Eidyeight throws a nice looking combination but Mcdonald bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Mcdonald drives through with a takedown into guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Mcdonald tries to free his leg and advance position but Eidyeight is retaining full guard.
Mcdonald is pushing down on Eidyeight's leg trying to pass to half guard. Eidyeight is fighting to maintain full guard but Mcdonald has managed to sneak the leg through.
