Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Simon Cole!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cole forces D back against the cage and clinches.

D breaks the clinch.
D pulls out of a head kick attempt.
D swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Cole counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cole.
Cole stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. D swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cole prevents D from getting back to his feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
D throws a combination that misses

and Cole counters with a single leg into guard. D didn't expect that.

D is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Cole working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of D's head.
Cole loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
D keeping moving, preventing Cole from controlling successfully.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Simon Cole just wasn't active enough.
A head kick by D misses

and Cole counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for D!
Cole won't let D get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.
Cole looking to control but D is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
D tries to buck Cole off but he can't manage it.

Cole misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Cole thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Cole gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
D falls off balance throwing a combination

and Cole decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in D's guard.

Cole passes D's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Cole is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Cole is keen to just control but D is a slippery customer.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

D throws a lazy head kick

and Cole counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
D is staying active underneath Cole, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Simon Cole overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Cole is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for D!
D is squirming around, avoiding Cole's attempts to control the action.
D is trying to stand.
