The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Karelin avoids the body shot from Neprostoy.
Neprostoy throws a head kick that misses.
Neprostoy misses with a takedown attempt
and Karelin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
A right-left combo lands from Neprostoy.
Neprostoy defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Karelin.

Neprostoy moves into the clinch.
Karelin drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Neprostoy gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Karelin tries for a takedown but Neprostoy manages to get underhooks.

Karelin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Neprostoy paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Karelin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Neprostoy scores with a head kick. Karelin tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Neprostoy has his takedown stuffed

and Karelin counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Neprostoy tries to kick Karelin off but Karelin keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Karelin is trying to control the action in half guard but Neprostoy is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Karelin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Karelin is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Neprostoy reverses the position - he's now on top in Karelin's guard.

Karelin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Neprostoy can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Karelin is breathing heavily.
Neprostoy trying to control the position from guard on top but Karelin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Neprostoy drops back looking for a leg! Karelin is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Karelin manages to kick Neprostoy off! Neprostoy jumps back into Karelin's guard.
Neprostoy wants to control from the top but Karelin keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Karelin looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Neprostoy shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Karelin pinned against the cage. Karelin gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Neprostoy swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Neprostoy shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Karelin's guard.
Neprostoy forces his way into half guard.
Karelin is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
