PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Abiel Selawi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kokou Dossevi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Dossevi's choice of entrance music: "Killers" by Motörhead. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Abiel Selawi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kokou Dossevi!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Damien Edna and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dossevi tries to sprawl but Selawi drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Dossevi is trying to stand.
Dossevi is looking to improve his position.
Dossevi is staying active underneath Selawi, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Selawi is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dossevi defends it well.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Selawi wants to work for an arm triangle but Dossevi is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Selawi prevents Dossevi from improving his position.

Selawi wants to pass to mount but Dossevi is defending the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Selawi throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Dossevi escapes and throws Selawi's legs to the side, diving into side control!

It looks like Dossevi might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Selawi tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The referee asks Dossevi politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Dossevi prefers to stall for the moment though.

That was a close round but I would say that Abiel Selawi will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Dossevi counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Dossevi shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Selawi napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Dossevi is staying tight to Selawi's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Selawi is trying to control Dossevi's posture but Dossevi avoids it.
Dossevi is looking to take a break and control but Selawi is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dossevi wants to take a breather but Selawi manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Dossevi.

Kokou Dossevi comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Dossevi has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
