PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eric Rogers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Cup Coffee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rogers comes into the arena with Ted Nugent's Stranglehold blaring out of the sound system. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Eric Rogers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Cup Coffee!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Eliza Hachem and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coffee lands with a nice combination. Rogers backs away looking to recover.

Coffee gets the takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Coffee tries to move into full mount but can't pass Rogers's legs.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Coffee trying to control the action but Rogers is working from the bottom.
Coffee working the body and head with strikes.

Rogers tries to buck Coffee off but Coffee is having none of it.

Coffee is trying to get an arm triangle but Rogers is defending well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rogers parries the strikes from Coffee easily there. Coffee is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Rogers to escape.
Coffee wants to control but Rogers is keeping him busy.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Rogers tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Coffee creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.
Coffee controls the position.
Rogers sneaks back into half guard.
Coffee seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rogers does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Rogers is squirming around, avoiding Coffee's attempts to control the action.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Rogers tries to reverse the position but Coffee maintains control.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Coffee cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Coffee stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Coffee wants it to stay on the feet.
Coffee misses with a jab, cross combination.
Rogers doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Coffee counters with a two punch combo.
Coffee feints a jab promting Rogers to slip. Coffee then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Rogers slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

and Rogers counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Coffee makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Coffee.
Coffee pulls Rogers in to control the position.

Coffee feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Rogerss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Rogers takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Coffee closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Rogers did well to prevent Coffee getting side control.

Cup Coffee showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Coffee rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Rogers moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Coffee finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Rogers with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Coffee to score with a decent uppercut.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Coffee goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Coffee is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Coffee connects with a solid leg kick.
Coffee has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Rogers ducks right into an uppercut from Coffee.


Rogers is rocked!

Oh Rogers is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Coffee throws a right hand that Rogers ducks under and follows up with a left that Rogers also avoids with ease.
Rogers seems to have got his legs back now.
Coffee has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Rogers on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Good standup being displayed there by Coffee as he connects with a hook.
Coffee throws a good cross that connects.
Coffee dips to his left and cracks Rogers with an uppercut!

Coffee throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rogers was covering up waiting for the punch and Coffee finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Coffee stands up over Rogers, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Coffee not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Well Coffee has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
