Fitzwell comes to the cage accompanied by RATM - Killing in The Name. Machida is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: No more Shadows for the Past- NARNIA. Richard Fitzwell has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fitzwell throws a left and a right that both miss
and Machida counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Fitzwell connects with a good right hand that stumbles Machida. Machida circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Machida with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fitzwell misses with a looping right.
Fitzwell closes this distance looking for a takedown but Machida circles away.
Machida avoids the body shot from Fitzwell.
Machida lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Fitzwell has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Machida avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

and Machida counters with a left hand that sends Fitzwell to the canvas!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Machida stands up from Fitzwell's guard - Machida perhaps looking for a knockout.
Machida stuffs the takedown attempt from Fitzwell. Fitzwell gets slowly back to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Fitzwell gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Machida.
Machida connects with a leg kick. Fitzwell looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Machida ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Machida lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Machida connects with a crisp jab.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Machida. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Machida scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Machida has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Machida is looking to slow Fitzwell down with leg kicks.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
The fight stays on the outside here - Machida looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

A decent looking body kick lands there for Machida.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Fitzwell takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Machida throws a nice outside leg kick.
Machida's jab looks to have found its range, popping Fitzwell under the eye.
Fitzwell thows a body shot but no joy.
Renzo Machida seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Machida feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Fitzwell's calf.
Machida buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Machida turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Machida lands a high kick to the side of Fitzwell's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Machida dives into guard, looking to finish.

Fitzwell can't keep his opponent in guard - Machida advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Machida stands up out of the half guard.
Machida lands a jab to the nose.
Machida pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Machida ducks under a wild hook from Fitzwell.
Fitzwell will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Machida dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Machida thows a body shot but no joy.
Machida lands a jab to Fitzwell's midsection.
A head kick from Machida lands but Fitzwell takes it in his stride.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Machida throws a sloppy head kick and Fitzwell moves out of range easily.
Good leg kick by Machida there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Machida connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Fitzwell takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Machida lands an overhand right.
Machida cracks Fitzwell with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Fitzwell tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Machida pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Fitzwell is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
