Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Michael Vasquez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liddell's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, George Straits- The Fireman. Vasquez has chosen Careless Whisper as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Vasquez!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vasquez decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Liddell wants to improve his position but Vasquez is controlling well.
Vasquez tries to pass to full mount but Liddell defends it.
Liddell preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Vasquez in particular looking to stall.
Vasquez is pressing down on Liddell's thigh, looking to free his foot. Liddell is holding on for now.
Liddell looks like he's trying to stand up.
Vasquez has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vasquez looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Liddell is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vasquez is working for a guillotine from mount but Liddell frees his head quite easily.
Vasquez looks gassed!
Liddell is working to get back to half guard.
Liddell wants to hold on but Vasquez pushes him away.
Liddell knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Vasquez on the ground.

Liddell is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Liddell is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Vasquez is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Vasquez working for a submission but Liddell is keeping him at bay.
Liddell wants to control but Vasquez is having none of it.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Liddell sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Vasquez looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Liddell gets full guard.
Liddell wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Vasquez stopping the sweep attempt from Liddell.

Vasquez drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Liddell dives on top into guard.
Liddell works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Liddell tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Vasquez is looking to improve his position.
Still in half guard, Liddell seems content to control.
Vasquez is looking to improve his position.

Vasquez actively working from the bottom here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Liddell lands with a nice combination. Vasquez backs away looking to recover.
Vasquez takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Liddell misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Vasquez fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Liddell stuffs the takedown.
Liddell drops Vasquez with a beautiful combination! Vasquez stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Liddell is looking for the KO!

Liddell comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Vasquez is still on wobbly legs! Can Liddell finish him?
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Vasquez keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Dan Liddell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Liddell ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Vasquez moves away.
