Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chuan Ip Mung (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitch Staples (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chuan Ip Mung!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Mitch Staples!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Columbo Gatti and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mung bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Staples swings for the body but Mung moves out of range.
Mung walks into a straight right hand from Staples.
Staples wants to clinch but Mung slips to the side
and Mung counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Staples closes the distance looking to clinch
and Mung connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Staples tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Mung connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Mung uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Staples.
Staples misses with a left hand
and Mung counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Staples lands with a good body shot.
Mung lands an overhand right.
Mung comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Staples closes the distance but Mung moves to the side
letting Mung counter with a right hand.
Staples throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A looping hook to the body misses from Staples. Mung does a little dance to reset his feet.
Mung moves out of range as Staples strikes.
Staples looks to clinch

and Mung decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Staples's guard.

Staples is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Mung is controlling him.
Mung working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Mung throwing strikes from guard but Staples blocks nicely.
Staples wants to sweep but no luck.
Mung stays in close to Staples's body and controls the position.
Mung lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Staples has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Mung throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Staples works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Staples is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Staples can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Mung controls the pace.

Mung throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Mung throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Staples was covering up waiting for the punch and Mung finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chuan Ip Mung dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Mung throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Staples tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Mung is in Staples's guard.

Mung takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Mung seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Staples for as long as he can get away with.

Well Mung has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
