Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Damon Wilson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ike Quartey!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Donatello Bradman and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wilson tries for a takedown but Quartey sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Quartey moves into the clinch.
Quartey jumps guard but Wilson stands there with Quartey around his waist. Quartey gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Wilson.
Wilson goes for a takedown in the clinch but Quartey prevents it.

Quartey manages to break the clinch.

Quartey decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Quartey is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Wilson is breathing heavily.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Quartey winds up and cracks Wilson with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Quartey not doing much here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wilson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Quartey is working away from the top position though.
Quartey is nestled in close to Wilson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Quartey looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Quartey works his foot free and advances to mount.
Wilson tries to hold on but Quartey pushes him away.

Quartey is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Despite being in the dominant position, Ike Quartey just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Wilson escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Quartey gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Wilson has his takedown stuffed
and Quartey counters with a good, hard body kick but Wilson shrugs it off.
Wilson misses with an uppercut.

Wilson might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Quartey takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The referee warns Wilson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

I would not like to be Wilson right now.

Quartey doesn't have the hooks in and Wilson manages to turn into his guard.

Quartey lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Wilson!

Wilson wants to get back to his feet.
Quartey slips a nice elbow through Wilson's hands, connecting with Wilson's forehead.
Ike Quartey has got the better of the ground game so far.
Quartey thows a huge punch but Wilson dodges it nicely.

Wilson is looking to control Quartey's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Wilson avoid being mounted?

Quartey seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Wilson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Wilson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Quartey's guard.

Wilson goes for a takedown attempt but Quartey pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Wilson throws a left and a right that both miss

and Quartey counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Quartey.

Wilson wants to control from the top but Quartey keeps moving.

Ike Quartey showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Damon Wilson.
Well Quartey has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
