The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vieira circles away from the clinch attempt
and Vieira counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Reaver tries to clinch but Vieira moves out of range.
Zach Reaver seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Reaver looks to clinch
enabling Vieira to counter with a crisp jab.
Reaver wants to clinch but Vieira slips to the side
and Vieira counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Vieira shoots in and gets a takedown into Reaver's guard.
Vieira throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Vieira's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Vieira's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Vieira has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Reaver escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Vieira gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Vieira decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Reaver, up you get!

Vieira is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Reaver's half guard.
Vieira is figuring out what he wants to do next.

No joy there for Vieira, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Vieira changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Reaver looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Vieira controls the position from side control.

Vieira connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Reaver some visible discomfort.
Reaver is breathing heavily.
Vieira slows the pace down.
Vieira works to advance to full mount. Reaver defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Vieira working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Reaver looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Vieira! Submission of the night perhaps?
