The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Do shoots in for a takedown but Ernst shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Do tries for a takedown but Ernst sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Do drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.

Ernst moves into range and clinches up with Do.
Ernst tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Ernst landing some nice looking knees to the body.
Do is breathing heavily.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Ernst comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.


It looks like John Do has been cut.

Ernst breaks from the clinch.
A solid body kick from Ernst.

Ernst gets a clinch.
Ernst digs a right hand into Do's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Do's gas tank.
Ernst lands an elbow that stopped Do in his tracks for a moment.
Ernst connects with a knee to the head.
Ernst lands a nice shot to the body.
Ernst connects with a nasty looking knee right to Do's face.
Nice body punch from Ernst - that landed with a thud.
Ernst gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.

Ernst escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

A big head kick from Ernst and Do is sent sprawling to the canvas!


Do is rocked!


John Do's cut is getting worse.
Ernst slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Oh Do is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Ernst pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Do is keeping the position for now.
Do seems to have got his legs back now.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Paul Ernst hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Ernst.

Do on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Ernst throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Do on the side of the head.
Ernst wants to clinch.

Ernst throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Do's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Do shoots in looking for a takedown but Ernst manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Do's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Ernst wants to clinch.

Ernst tries to clinch up but Do circles away and keeps his distance.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ernst tries to close the distance and clinch up but Do swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Do bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Do wants to control but Ernst is keeping him busy.
Ernst avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Do.
Do throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Do in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
You can see the frustration on Ernst's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Ernst is looking to reverse the position.
Do postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Ernst tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Do landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.
Ernst has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Do trying to control the position but Ernst is working away.

The ground and pound from Do seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Do looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Ernst is avoiding damage well.

Ernst really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Do. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Do tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
Ernst defending against the ground and pound.
Ernst avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Do.

Do looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Do tries for a kimura but Ernst is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

John Do dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on John Do's cut.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Do has his takedown stuffed

and Ernst moves into the clinch.
Ernst just leaning against Do, taking a breather.
Do takes a knee right on the jaw!
Ernst lands an elbow just above Do 's eye.
Ernst misses with a knee strike.
Ernst stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ernst can do anything to dispel that myth.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Ernst tries a head kick but it misses.

Do looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Do. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Do shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Ernst as he avoids it easily.
Do fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Ernst thumps Do with a low kick.

Ernst darts in and clinches Do up against the cage.
Ernst lands a knee to the head there! That was nasty!
Ernst lands an elbow inside that Do shrugs off.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Do jumps guard but Ernst stands there with Do around his waist. Do gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Do really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
