PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between sai haki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adan Pegador (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). haki has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. sai haki has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, sai haki!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Adan Pegador!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pegador misses with a takedown attempt - haki sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
haki looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Pegador shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Pegador was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
haki might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Pegador lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

No luck for Pegador with that takedown attempt.
Horrible takedown by Pegador or perhaps it was just good defense by haki which made him look bad.
Pegador shoots in looking for a takedown. haki tries to sprawl out of it but Pegador keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. haki manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
sai haki has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adan Pegador.
Pegador misses with a head kick.
Pegador throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around haki's waist but haki gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Pegador off to one side.
Pegador lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Pegador closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Pegador lands in his opponent's guard.
Pegador tries to free his leg and advance position but haki is retaining full guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Adan Pegador wasn't active enough on the ground.
Pegador tries for a takedown but haki sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Pegador closes the distance and clinches.

Pegador breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Pegador throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. haki tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Pegador is in haki's guard.
Pegador is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Pegador must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Pegador tries to stand but haki is controlling from the bottom.
haki is trying to control the position but Pegador postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Pegador forces his way into half guard.

Pegador escapes and gets back to his feet.

Pegador shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches haki napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Adan Pegador showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Pegador wants to sweep here but haki controlling him for the moment.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

haki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pegador swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Pegador shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has haki pinned against the cage. haki gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Pegador.

Pegador goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, haki has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Pegador but great work by haki.

Pegador is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Pegador closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. haki quickly recovers to half guard.
haki is trying to maintain the position but Pegador is very close to passing his half guard.

Pegador seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but haki does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
haki preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head.
Pegador is trying to control. haki wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up because sai haki just wasn't active enough.
Pegador connects with a right hand. haki shakes it off.

Well Pegador has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
