Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Byron Derksen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Flako Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Derksen comes to the cage accompanied by Mindless Self Indulgence- Bitches. The crowd seem to be enjoying Gracie's choice of entrance music: Pull Me Under - Dream Theater. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Derksen throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Gracie counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

It looks like Byron Derksen has been cut.
Derksen changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Gracie loads up on a big right hand but Derksen slips the punch.
Derksen bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Gracie misses with a straight left.
Derksen shoots in for a double leg but Gracie sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Gracie throws a leg kick which misses Derksen's front leg but catches the back leg as Derksen tries to avoid it.
Gracie throws a lazy right hand but Derksen sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Gracie lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Gracie is pressed up against the cage. Derksen has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Gracie down to the mat. Gracie avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Gracie lands a nice looking kick to the body. Derksen takes a step back to recover.

Gracie decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Gracie is keen to just control but Derksen is a slippery customer.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Gracie is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Derksen is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Derksen takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Gracie throws a series of punches but Derksen avoids them all with ease.

and Derksen counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Gracie's guard now.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Gracie is on top in guard.
Gracie is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Gracie passes Derksen's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Derksen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Derksen is trying to stand.
Gracie is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Derksen!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Derksen knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gracie on the ground.

Gracie working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Derksen turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Gracie off and cradles Derksen's limp body as Gracie celebrates with his corner.
