PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Douglas Sanderson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seven Sagard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Sanderson might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to M83 - We Own The Sky. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Douglas Sanderson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Seven Sagard!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, William Gold and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sagard looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Sanderson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Sanderson working for a triangle but Sagard defends it easily.
Sanderson could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Sagard wants to control from the top but Sanderson keeps moving.
Sagard controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Sanderson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Sagard!
Sagard is trying to escape the mount.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sanderson can't control as he wanted to and Sagard manages to get the fight back to his half guard.
Sagard wants to control but Sanderson is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Sagard is looking for a sweep. Sanderson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sagard wants to improve his position but Sanderson is controlling well.
Sagard trying to hold on to Sanderson's head to control him but Sanderson postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Sagard is trying to avoid being dragged into an even worse position than he's already in but Sanderson is staying active.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Sanderson enables Sagard to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Sanderson manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Sagard's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Sagard won't allow Sanderson to sweep him here.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Sanderson wants to sweep but no luck.
Sagard trying to control but Sanderson is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Seven Sagard.

Sagard feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Sagard thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Sagard is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Sagard drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Sagard jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Sagard looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Sagard postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Sanderson is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Sagard, into his guard.

Sagard is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Sanderson trying to control but Sagard is working from the bottom.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Seven Sagard dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Sagard throws a series of punches but Sanderson moves out of range.
Good work by Sagard as he checks the leg kick.
Sanderson slips under a jab.
Sanderson takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Sagard cracks Sanderson with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Sanderson looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Sagard finish him?


Sanderson is rocked!


It looks like Douglas Sanderson has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Sagard shoots in for a takedown. He's got it... He's hoisted his opponent over his head and is carrying him over to the other end of the mat. The crowd roars in approval and Sagard slams his opponent to the mat. OH, that is naaaaaasty! He's out! Sagard lands a punch to his unconscious victim for good measure before the ref has time to call the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:30 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Slam). Seven Sagard!
