PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rick Hendry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lars Hammet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hendry kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is high way to hell. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rick Hendry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Lars Hammet!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hammet pushes Hendry up against the ropes in a clinch.
Hendry tries to score a body lock takedown but Hammet shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Hendry tries to land knees in the clinch but Hammet avoids the damage to the body.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Hendry tries to circle away but Hammet has him pinned against the ropes.

Hammet manages to break the clinch.

Hammet clinches up with Hendry and pushes him back against the ropes.
Hendry is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Hammet gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hendry is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Hammet pulls his head out easily.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Hammet looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Hendry with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Hammet lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Hendry looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Hammet seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Hammet winds up and cracks Hendry with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Hammet working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Hammet lands a nice short elbow.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hammet postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Hendry is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hammet decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Hendry will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Lars Hammet comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Hammet has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
