Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Nam Phan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Pistol Robinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nam Phan had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Robinson tries for a takedown but Phan circles away easily
and Phan counters with a stiff right hand.
Robinson misses with a jab, cross combination.
Phan looks to clinch

and Robinson counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Phan's guard now.

Robinson gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Robinson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Phan makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Nam Phan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pistol Robinson.

Phan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Robinson manages to get himself to full guard.
Phan would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Robinson holds on and takes a little breather.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Phan gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Robinson wants to clinch up but Phan keeps it at a distance.
Robinson takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

and Robinson decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Phan's guard.

Robinson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Phan just stands there and leans against the cage.

Phan swings wildly with an uppercut but Robinson uses good head movement to avoid it.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Robinson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Robinson takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Phan rushes Robinson and presses him up against the cage.

Robinson pulls guard effortlessly.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Phan wants to stand but Robinson is controlling his posture from full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Robinson wants to hit a switch here but Phan passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Robinson there!
Robinson can't escape the position.
Robinson bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Robinson throws a big right hand that misses.
Robinson chips away with some ground and pound.

Phan is working an open guard so Robinson takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Robinson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Robinson stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Robinson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Phan avoids it really well and circles away.
Pistol Robinson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

A punch combination from Robinson misses.

Robinson closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Phan to the mat! Phan manages to get full guard.

and Robinson counters with a single leg into guard. Phan didn't expect that.
Robinson wants to control from the top but Phan keeps moving.
Pistol Robinson has got the better of the ground game so far.

Robinson gets to his feet. Phan looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Phan avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Robinson thumps Phan with a low kick.
Robinson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Phan's waist but Phan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Robinson off to one side.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Robinson is working to tighten is grip on Phan's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Phan has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Robinson is really squeezing tight and eventually Phan passes out! Robinson breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
