PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tito Coleman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Oscar Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Coleman kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Eminem - Mosh. Jones is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Saliva - Ladies and Gentlemen. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 10 - 0, fighting out of London, Tito Coleman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Oscar Jones!
The judges for this bout are James Glass, Andrew Berry and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Coleman throws a series of punches but Jones moves out of range.
Jones rushes in with a sloppy looking punch

and Coleman counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Coleman preventing the sweep.
Coleman wants to pass the guard but Jones is keeping the position.
Coleman looking to sit in guard and control but Jones gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Coleman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jones doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jones manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Coleman utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Jones slips nicely into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Coleman is looking to control Jones's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Coleman avoid being mounted?

Coleman is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Jones pulls his head out easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Oscar Jones will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Coleman jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Jones is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Jones and Coleman has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Coleman unloads with some shots from mount but Jones bucks and avoids them well.

Coleman goes for an armbar but Jones turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Jones.
Jones throws and elbow that misses. Coleman uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Jones's guard. Nice move by Coleman!

Coleman is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jones defends well.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jones is in close to Coleman's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Jones trying to control but Coleman is working from the bottom.

Coleman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Jones is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Jones is adopting a defensive guard.
Tito Coleman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Jones misses with a right hand
and Coleman counters with a nice body kick.

and Coleman counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jones's guard now.

Coleman drops back, looking for a kneebar! Jones looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Jones looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Jones!

Coleman blocking the ground and pound attempt from Jones.

Jones is trying to control the action in half guard but Coleman is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Jones tries to pass the half guard into mount. Coleman knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Coleman flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jones connects with a nice short shot to Coleman's temple.
Jones stalling.
Coleman tries to get to full guard but Jones has control of the leg.
Jones stalling away here and it's allowed Coleman to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Oscar Jones.
I think Jones has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
