The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Joern loads up on a big right hand but Lawrie slips the punch.

and Lawrie counters with a shoot takedown. Joern fights it but they end up in guard.
Lawrie postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Lawrie keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Joern's head.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Joern can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Lawrie controls the pace.
Lawrie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Joern swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Joern is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Lawrie wants to pass the guard but Joern is keeping the position.
Joern has momentary wrist control but Lawrie slips an elbow through the middle.

Joern is breathing heavily.
Lawrie works a leg free and moves into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Lawrie connects with a nice short shot to Joern's temple.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Lawrie lands a nice short elbow.
Joern knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Lawrie on the ground.

Lawrie takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

The referee asks Lawrie politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Lawrie prefers to stall for the moment though.

Lawrie is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Joern will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Lawrie connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Joern some visible discomfort.
Lawrie should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

It looks like Tadej Joern has been cut.

Lawrie cracks Joern with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Oh Joern is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
