The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Perry shoots for a takedown but Thomason saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Perry has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Thomason finds it's way round the side to connect with Perry's head.

and Perry counters with a single leg into guard. Thomason didn't expect that.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Perry has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Thomason throws a sloppy head kick and Perry moves out of range easily.

Perry shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Thomason is trying to defend but Perry finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
