The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Alexandre Firmino and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A momentary lapse in concentration from Alves enables Joaninho to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Alves manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Joaninho gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Joaninho lunges at Alves with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Alves's hand.
Joaninho fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
It looks like Matheus Alves has been cut.
Alves misses with a hook
and Joaninho cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Alves is rocked!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Alves takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Alves is still on wobbly legs! Can Joaninho finish him?
Alves falls off balance throwing a combination
and Joaninho counters with a crisp right that sends Alves to the canvas! Joaninho follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!
