The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Woodward stuffs the takedown.
Jack Strong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Strong fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Woodward manages to avoid it.
Strong ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Woodward moves away.
Strong throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Strong takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Strong fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Strong tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Woodward connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Strong on the wrong end of a kick to the body.

Strong gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Strong pushes Woodward back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Strong's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Woodward shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Strong throws a lazy right hand but Woodward sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Strong throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Woodward throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Strong.
Woodward misses with a series of wild punches.
Strong rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Woodward moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Woodward throws a head kick that misses.
Strong closes the distance looking to clinch

and Woodward counters with a nice double leg into side control. Strong won't be happy with that.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Strong is not content to let Woodward control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Woodward stands up and beckons Strong to his feet.
Strong throws a hook to the side of Woodward's head but Woodward sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Woodward wants to control from the top but Strong keeps moving.

Woodward is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Woodward shoots in for a takedown but Strong shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Strong tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Woodward paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Woodward is trying to trip Strong. He has hold of a leg but Strong is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Woodward persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Strong wants to stand and escape but Woodward is having none of it.

Woodward had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Strong defends it easily.

Woodward escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Strong gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Strong throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Woodward works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Woodward has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Strong can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Strong tries to reverse the position but Woodward maintains control.

Woodward swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Strong is now in Woodward's guard. A big mistake from Woodward there, giving up the dominant position!

Woodward postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Strong is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Woodward, into his guard.

Woodward wants to finish this one by submission but Strong is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Woodward.
Strong tries to lock up and control but Woodward gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

Woodward moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Strong has worked his arm free - good work by Strong!
Strong tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Woodward wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Woodward is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Strong is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
