Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tom Blanton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bas Rutten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rutten scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Blanton falls off balance throwing a combination
and Rutten counters with a one-two to the body.

Rutten closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Blanton quickly recovers to half guard.

Rutten is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Blanton defends it well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Rutten is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Blanton is just riding it out for now. Rutten eventually gives up the hold.

Rutten uses his free foot to push down on Blanton's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Blanton.
Blanton is squirming around, avoiding Rutten's attempts to control the action.

Rutten might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Blanton kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Rutten is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Blanton can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
