PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Harry Moon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Giaurov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Giaurov comes into a darkened arena with his song building. War is my destiny kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Harry Moon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nick Giaurov!
The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Tarja Halkonen and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Giaurov fails with the takedown
and Moon counters with a lovely straight right hand!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Giaurov enables Moon to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Giaurov manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Moon has gone for a leg lock! Giaurov slips out almost immediately though and dives into Moon's guard.
Moon is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Giaurov wants to get up but he can't break Moon's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Moon postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Giaurov is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Moon, into his guard.
Moon is breathing heavily.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Moon escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Giaurov gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Moon is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Nick Giaurov was stalling too much, according to the referee.

and Moon counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

and Moon decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Giaurov's guard.

Moon stays in close to Giaurov's body and controls the position.
Harry Moon overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Giaurov preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Moon throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Giaurov works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Moon is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Moon slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Giaurov can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Moon controls the pace.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Giaurov wants to stand up but Moon is controlling him.

Moon drops back for a leg here. A bit of a high risk move... He's looking for a kneebar by the looks of things. Now both of them are looking for submissions. Moon seems to have locked his on tight now - Giaurov screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Moon, as he picks up the win!
