Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Sepp Maier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Billy Bonds (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maier comes to the cage accompanied by Apaga mas não bate. Bonds has chosen Secret Agent Man as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Sepp Maier!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Billy Bonds!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Daniel Bishop and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Maier misses with a takedown attempt
and Bonds counters with a left and a right that stings Maier.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Maier has his takedown stuffed
and Bonds counters with a nice kick to the body.
Maier tries for a takedown but Bonds circles away easily
and Bonds counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Maier thinking.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Sepp Maier. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Bonds misses with a jab, cross combination.
A combination from Bonds does no damage.
Maier fails with the takedown
and Bonds counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.

Bonds fails to land with a series of punches.

Maier shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Bonds manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Bonds working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Maier.

Maier has gone for a leg lock! Bonds slips out almost immediately though and dives into Maier's guard.
Bonds wants to get up but he can't break Maier's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Maier looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Bonds wants to stand and escape but instead Maier has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Maier drops back, looking for a kneebar! Bonds looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Bonds looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Bonds!

Bonds decides to stand up, so the ref orders Maier to his feet.
Maier misses with a takedown attempt
and Bonds counters with a big head kick but Maier shrugs it off.
Maier tries to close the distance and clinch but Bonds swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.

Bonds pulls out of a head kick attempt.

and Bonds counters with a three punch combo that has Maier backing up. Maier nods at Bonds to acknowledge the strikes.
Maier shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Bonds counters with a left and a right that stings Maier.
Maier tries to clinch there but Bonds circles away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Billy Bonds dominated that round.

Maier blocks a head kick by Bonds.

Maier fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bonds sprawls well initially but Maier persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Maier passes the guard and advances to mount!
Bonds is bucking up trying to escape but Maier cracks him with another couple of good strikes.

Maier with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Maier breaks from Bonds's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Maier with shots to the head and body - Bonds looks very uncomfortable down there.

Maier goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Bonds turns into him and now he's in Maier's guard.

Maier has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bonds can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Maier looking for a triangle here. Bonds is fighting it but it looks tight! Maier pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Bonds is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Sepp Maier!
