Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Phal Um (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Octavio Paixao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paixao is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by "Death by Blonde" by Devotchka. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
23 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Phal Um!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Octavio Paixao!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Gregory Folan and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Um misses with a straight right.
Paixao misses with a low kick as Um jumps back.
Paixao throws the kick towards the body but Um avoids it.
Paixao tries to keep at a distance but Um has taken the fight into the clinch.
Um wants a takedown but no success here.
Paixao misses with a punch to the body.
Um scores with a shot to the side of Paixao's head.
Um gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Paixao regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Um.
Paixao is trying to keep Um in close.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Um is pushing down on Paixao's leg trying to pass to half guard. Paixao is fighting to maintain full guard but Um has managed to sneak the leg through.
Um is taking a breather. Paixao says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Um with the ground and pound but Paixao uses the opportunity to regain guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Um accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

and Um counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Paixao enables Um to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Paixao manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

We're going to have a standup here because Phal Um wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Um tries for a takedown but Paixao sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Um is trying to trip Paixao. He has hold of a leg but Paixao is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Um persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
