The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Decent striking displayed by Sawyer there.
Sawyer looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Sawyer misses with a series of wild punches.
Simmons throws a series of punches but Sawyer avoids them all with ease.
ZPrizzy Simmons seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sawyer feints a jab promting Simmons to slip. Sawyer then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Simmons slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Simmons lands with a hook. Sawyer tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

It looks like Tom Sawyer has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Simmons throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Sawyer makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Sawyer dives in and grabs Simmons's left leg, looking for a takedown. Simmons pushes down on Sawyer's head and hops out.

Sawyer darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Simmons is trying to stand up here but Sawyer is controlling him well.
Sawyer wants to free his trapped foot but Simmons is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Sawyer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Sawyer is just content to waste time from the top position. Simmons takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.

Sawyer has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
