Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pepe Osprey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rick Carter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rick Carter has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Pepe Osprey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rick Carter!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Osprey enables Carter to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Osprey manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Carter trying to control but Osprey is working from the bottom.
Osprey looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Carter puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Carter wants to work for an arm triangle but Osprey is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Carter is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Osprey is trying to control but can't.

Carter is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Carter postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Osprey is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Carter, into his guard.

Osprey wants to control from the top but Carter keeps moving.
Osprey advances to half guard.
Carter is staying active underneath Osprey, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Osprey is trying to work for a kimura but Carter is defending well.

Osprey is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Osprey is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Osprey is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Carter kicks Osprey off and gets back to his feet.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Osprey is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Osprey moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Carter sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Osprey's guard.

Carter has control of Osprey's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Osprey regains control of the situation pretty easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Carter is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Osprey is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Carter defends well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Carter must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Rick Carter showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!



Carter shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Osprey manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Osprey looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Carter thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Carter drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Carter jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Carter is looking to advance position but Osprey has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

Carter sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Osprey trying to control from Carter's half guard. Carter has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Carter is trying to keep Osprey in close.
Rick Carter has got the better of the ground game so far.
Osprey wants to control from the top but Carter keeps moving.
Carter controls Osprey momentarily but Osprey frees himself.

Carter is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Osprey escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Carter gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Carter is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Osprey defends it well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Carter not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Osprey has his foot on Carter's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carter works his way back into a safe position though.
Pepe Osprey has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Rick Carter is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
