PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Adam Robles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Leon Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Robles comes to the cage accompanied by WHO LET THE DOGS OUT. Hughes has chosen Hear Me Now as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Adam Robles has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Adam Robles seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Leon Hughes!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hughes darts in and clinches Robles up against the cage.
Robles stops a takedown attempt from Hughes.
Robles jumps guard but Hughes stands there with Robles around his waist. Robles gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Hughes scores with a hook to the body.

Hughes gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Hughes missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Robles keeping moving, preventing Hughes from controlling successfully.
Hughes might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Robles kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Hughes gets to his feet - Robles follows without any prompting.
Robles fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Adam Robles seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Robles displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hughes.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Leon Hughes hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Robles is trying to control Hughes's posture but Hughes avoids it.
Robles seems a little lost for a moment, as Hughes dominates the positioning.
Hughes lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Robles down.

Let's hope that Hughes has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Hughes throws a leg kick which misses Robles's front leg but catches the back leg as Robles tries to avoid it.
Hughes slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Hughes looks for the body kick but Robles saw that one coming.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Robles gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hughes to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Hughes wants to control from the top but Robles keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Robles's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Hughes lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Robles!
