Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bill Davies (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dave Kaplan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kaplan has chosen Tenderness by General Public as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davies has his takedown stuffed
and Kaplan counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Kaplan walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Davies falls off balance throwing a combination
and Kaplan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Davies is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Kaplan has just dragged him back down to the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Davies is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Davies is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Kaplan defends well.

Davies has his foot on Kaplan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Kaplan works his way back into a safe position though.

Davies looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Davies has hold of Kaplan's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Kaplan manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Dave Kaplan will probably get the nod.
That's time! Davies's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Davies decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Davies is pressing down on Kaplan's thigh, looking to free his foot. Kaplan is holding on for now.
Kaplan has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Davies is working away from the top position though.
Bill Davies overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Davies working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Kaplan looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Davies! Submission of the night perhaps?
