PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Joker Goth (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Sparrow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Joker Goth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jack Sparrow!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Summer Carpenter and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Goth closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Goth lands in his opponent's guard.
Sparrow is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Goth sitting in guard here, content to control.
Goth trying to control but Sparrow is working from the bottom.
Sparrow is trying to control the position but Goth postures up.
Goth sitting in guard, not really doing much.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Joker Goth just wasn't active enough.
Sparrow throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.

Goth drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Sparrow is trying to get back to half guard.

The referee asks Goth politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Goth prefers to stall for the moment though.

Goth tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Goth has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Sparrow tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Goth controls the position.

Goth stands up.

Goth looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Sparrow!
Sparrow is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Sparrow gets back to half guard.
Still in half guard, Goth seems content to control.
Goth has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Sparrow wants to get back to full guard.
Sparrow is staying active underneath Goth, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Sparrow looking for a sweep. Not yet Sparrow, not yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Joker Goth has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Sparrow pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Goth scores with a one two! Sparrow had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
A decent looking cross lands there for Goth.
Sparrow with a poor takedown
and Goth counters with a three punch combo that has Sparrow backing up. Sparrow nods at Goth to acknowledge the strikes.
Sparrow looks gassed!

Goth working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Goth wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sparrow keeps working.
Goth really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Goth tries to move to full mount but Sparrow actually manages to regain half guard.

Goth is looking for a kimura but Sparrow is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Goth to get the leverage.
Goth seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Sparrow does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Goth is really struggling to control Sparrow but he's trying to hold on to the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Goth is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Sparrow's half guard.

Goth fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Sparrow looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.

Sparrow tries to clinch but Goth moves away

and Goth counters with a single leg into guard. Sparrow didn't expect that.
Goth has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Sparrow not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Sparrow avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Goth drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Goth jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Sparrow wants to get back to his feet but Goth is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Goth seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Sparrow moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Goth lands with a nice combination. Sparrow backs away looking to recover.

Goth tests Sparrow's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Goth throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Sparrow tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Goth is in Sparrow's guard.

Goth gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well Goth has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
