PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Vir Blast (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Goran Bottensheller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Blast has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. The key to victory for Vir Blast has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Goran Bottensheller!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Andrew Berry and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Blast enables Bottensheller to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Blast manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Bottensheller slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Blast looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Bottensheller controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Blast is breathing heavily.
Bottensheller slips nicely into half guard.
Bottensheller scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Goran Bottensheller wasn't active enough on the ground.

Bottensheller feints and as Blast raises his hands in defense, Bottensheller changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Goran Bottensheller hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Bottensheller closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bottensheller lands in his opponent's guard.

Bottensheller uses his free foot to push down on Blast's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Blast.

Blast is bucking up trying to escape but Bottensheller cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Bottensheller lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Blast wants to control but Bottensheller is having none of it.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bottensheller cracks Blast with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Blast is rocked!
Bottensheller advances to half guard.
Bottensheller has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bottensheller is figuring out what he wants to do next.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Goran Bottensheller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Blast could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Well Bottensheller has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
